Many years ago, I got very much into Carmageddon. The pretty violent racing game consumed a lot of my PC gaming time: the combination of ridiculousness (points for hitting pedestrians! absurdly high-speed chases! humor!) and neato cars found a home in this then-20-year-old’s heart.
Well, it’s now back for iOS for a measly two bucks. It was released yesterday and was free for that day, as a thank you to the people who backed it on Kickstarter. And I have to tell you that I’ve been playing it quite a bit since it came out.
The controls are reasonable on the iPad, and are customizable too. The gameplay, graphics, and audio are pretty much identical to the 1997 release although, honestly, it runs smoother than it did on my PC at the time. And it’s faster, naturally!
This game isn’t for everyone. But, I’m finding it to be a lot of fun right now.
