Sad news today: Sherman Hemsley has died.
Of course it was easy to love George Jefferson from The Jeffersons and All in the Family, but I especially liked Hemsley as Deacon Frye from Amen. Of course the whole thing was sitcom-my goofy, but I loved it anyway.
A small favorite moment in the intro: when Hemsley gets out of his car, he gives the camera just the slightest look. But that look says just about everything you need to know about that character. Good stuff.
