I’ve taken a liking to Chopped, the Food Network show in which contestants are given a box of foods, a time limit, and need to make a course of a meal. It’s easy to drop in and out of the show. There’s no mythology. Easy entertainment.
But the most interesting part of the show is actually no longer a part of the show. Per the Pedia of Wiki, the show originally had a great concept:
According to host Ted Allen, the show “was originally meant to be taped at some guy’s mansion with him and his crazy Chihuahua. A stuffy fellow in a tuxedo was to host, and the losing chef’s dish was then fed to the dog…it was too much for Food Network.”
Come on! That’s great! Except for the dog. Chopped as it stands takes place in a kitchen. It’s too bad that the original concept didn’t make it all the way through.

In the original concept, I guess they’d be doing all dishes without onion…

True. I don’t think that would stop ’em.
