Many moons ago I wrote about a dead type of store: the five-and-dime. With food. I reminisced about Woolworth’s and Murphy’s, both in a plaza near my house growing up.
Murphy’s has a number of devotees out there on the WWW. We’re fortunate enough to have G.C. Murphy Memories, a classic site with far too much information on Murphy’s, individual locations, and photos upon photos.
The site hasn’t seen an update in quite some time, sadly, but it reminds me of the old web – and it’s pretty fascinating.
