When was the last time you listened to an audio cassette? Bought one?
Since I’m underway archiving my cassettes into a digital format, I often listen to my tapes after I’ve digitized them. The last time I actually listened to a tape live, though, was probably about a year ago. And, not coincidentally, it was also the last tape I’d purchased: a honest-to-god hip-hop mixtape released only on cassette. I listened in our 2001 Subaru Outback, which has both a cassette deck and a CD player.
Believe it or not, I’ve more recently listened to an 8-track. Shortly after buying a beauty on ebay, I fired up a tasty Engelbert Humperdinck tape (who, by the way, is still alive and almost collaborated with The Gorillaz).

College was probably the last time, but only because I was recording skimmer tapes of my radio shows, taping over old Jerry Falwell sermons.
Ah, memories.
