Bill Cosby has gotten cranky in recent years and has been using his considerable talent to put out crappy family-friendly hip-hop albums that apparently never get released, but he was a pretty funny guy in his day.
We all remember him for The Cosby Show which, aside from unleashing Raven Symone on the world (I know, I know… don’t be a hater), was a pretty darn entertaining 80s sitcom. But somehow, it wasn’t until this past week that I realized he had a show in 1969 and 1970 called The Bill Cosby Show where he played a high school gym teacher. I’ve only watched the first episode, but so far I’m enjoying it. It has a very different feel than most other sitcoms of the era and is believed to be the first sitcom with a black lead.
If you have Netflix, you can enjoy the show and if you have MOG, Spotify, etc., you can listen to the super funky soundtrack by Quincy Jones with an all-star lineup, including Cos himself.
