Things I learned thanks (?) to TLC: there are people who actually enter sweepstakes for a living.
Most of the profit comes from selling the goods these people have won, of course, but there’s a price to pay: this takes a lot of time and investment up front. If you want to win $5,000 from M&Ms, you need to plunk down a fair investment (to increase your odds) in the product. But even if you go for the no purchase option, there’s still that whole postage thing. At least these people are keeping the Postal Service somewhat afloat!
I can’t wait for a show which combines Extreme Couponing, High Stakes Sweepers, and Hoarders. It’s got to happen.
