I naively used to think that cable/satellite channels were devoted to their topics. Food Network? Food. History Channel? History. Disney Channel? Disney.
But given the rise of reality TV over the past decade I find it much easier to think of these channels in another way: cable/satellite channels are devoted to reality shows about their topics. The Food Network has reality shows about food. The History Channel has reality shows about history. HGTV has reality shows about homes and gardens.
See? Doesn’t that just feel better?
