While enjoying the latest Judge John Hodgman podcast, I noticed that MetaFilter’s Matt Haughey doesn’t store his trash bags in the bottom of his trash can.
I, as well, don’t store bags in the bottom. But I know a lot of people do. I was ready to defend my anti-bag-in-the-bottom stance but to be honest with you… it makes sense. We do store our garbage bags very close to our garbage cans, but it’d be even more convenient to just put a few in the bottom.
I guess the question is: how many do you store there? 1? That seems almost silly. 5? 10? How about 100? And then, wouldn’t it be nice to have them in a box? I think I might have just talked myself out of this idea.

We don’t store then in the can either. We buy the large box of bags at BJ’s, so we probably only buy trash bags once per year. We store them in the box in the pantry.
