Ticky Tacky

I’m a fan of alliterations, so when I first heard of the phrase “ticky tacky” I was intrigued. But what did it mean? Naturally wikitionary was there to help.

More importantly the phrase came from the song “Little Boxes” by Malvina Reynolds… which became popular when it was used as the first theme song for Weeds (and a number of covers were used.) It became a popular phrase in the 60s to refer to shoddy home construction.

And now? There’s an app for that. What a long way we’ve come!
