I remember back in the early 1990s, a young rapper out of Chicago was named “The World’s Fastest Rapper” by the Guinness Book of World Records. His name was Tung Twista and his debut album was a favorite of mine at the time. Though he was eventually beaten for the title, he went on to become surprisingly prolific and is still recording to this day under the name Twista.
Twista was defeated by a rapper named Rebel XD who not only held the title for seven years (I remember seeing him break it on Guinness’ short-lived TV show), I don’t think he ever actually released a song. The guy, as far as I know, existed solely to break the World Record. The video linked is funny just to see the painfully awkward moment where the court stenographer (the world’s fastest!) is asked to recite back Rebel XD’s lyrics. “Rippin and a-shippin,” indeed.
Rebel XD was defeated by NoClue a few years ago and it appears the current record holder is Spanish rapper Chojin who recited an astonishing 921 syllables in one minute in December 2008.
That’s kind of fast.

A few facts that you left out that I would be more than happy to fill in for you. Yes, No clue did in fact break my second record in 2005, but in 2007 I claimed the title once again with 852 syllables in 42 secs (20 syllables per second). Also it is true that some guy from Spain is mystery to not only me but to all those who can do simple math. El chojin record is only at 15 syllables per second and the fact that he rapped for a whole minute is almost like cheating when I broke it in 42 seconds. I’ve been urged to reclaim the title which would be simple but I truly feel like I shouldn’t have to in the first place simply because 20 syllables a sec is clearly fastest than 15 and they should never allowed him to rap for a whole minute when the record was set at 42 so I am good and El Chojin is nothing more than false victor as the facts will show. If he’s happy with that then he’s nothing more than a paper champion and Guinness lost all credibility with me because of it.
