Tell the truth: how many times have you checked Facebook today?
No, really? I mean, even just to peek?

The Daily Ping is the web's finest compendium of toilet information and Oreo™® research. Too much? Okay, okay, it's a daily opinion column written by two friends. Did we mention we've been doing this for over ten years? Tell me more!

I think 5 or so. (Yesterday… not today.)
It’s funny, because I really didn’t think much of Facebook initially. But the value in it is that I now have a ton of friends and relatives on it, and since they update frequently, there’s a lot of use in it for me. I mostly ignore and/or hide all of the game apps and email forward-like stuff, and that all works out.

About 4 times – All for about 10 seconds at a time.

If I open FB in a Firefox tab and leave it there all day that only counts as checking one time, right?

I can’t check it from work 🙁
I do check it every night, though. I think the guy who invented it should probably get a Nobel Peace Prize. It really has brought a lot of people together whom you’d otherwise have never heard from again and I really appreciate that.
I’ve gotten back in contact with a lot of old friends and it’s really just been great. I love it. Wish I invented it.
I can also keep up with my large family and I’m forging more of a relationship with my neices and nephews than I would have been able to otherwise since they live all over the country.
It really has added to my life and made it a lot nicer.
Now, if only I could post to two different Pings closely in time without getting that Goll-danged
“Spam Prevention: You cannot post a comment so soon after submitting another one.

that would really make my life better.
Can’t you give me a pass, somehow? Isn’t there a way to mark my computer as friendly?
Yes, I’m whining . . .

The issues will all go away soon, Joseph, once Paul and I can coordinate our schedules enough to work some magic. Like the cute kitten on the motivational poster said: hang in there!
