Definitely Not the Opera

My local public radio station airs the CBC’s Definitely Not the Opera and I’m here to tell you that I think it’s great. You should listen to it.

I think of it as a Canadian counterpart to This American Life, really. Minus the “American” part. Each episode focuses on a topic and includes stories, music, interviews, and other information on said topic. Whereas This American Life is more grounded in stories most of the time, I like the slightly more free-form style of DNTO.

Last week’s episode was The Peep Show, an interesting collection focusing on our peep culture. Everything was covered from Facebook updates and how that changes the way we interact, to an artist who lived in a public space. Good, meaty stuff, in other words.

Give it a shot. The archives are all available online and the podcast is free.

What is this then?

The Daily Ping is the web's finest compendium of toilet information and Oreo™® research. Too much? Okay, okay, it's a daily opinion column written by two friends. Did we mention we've been doing this for over ten years? Tell me more!
