Oldest Mailing List

What’s the oldest mailing list that you’re still on?

I’ve unsubscribed to almost all of the mailing lists I used to be on, but for whatever reason, I still receive updates from Snopes. Sure, they have an RSS feed and their site is easy enough to check for new topics, but for some reason I haven’t unsubscribed from their weekly mailing. It’s not even like I read it very often, maybe once or twice every two months. At this point, I must maintain my subscription for sentimental reasons.

The oldest running listserv/mailinglist in the Internet today is the ECEOL listserv – dating back to March 1993. This listserv will most likely be shut down in December 2012.

ECEOL is not even *close* to being the oldest running mailing list on the Internet. TELECOM Digest has been running since 1981, and SF-LOVERS has been running since September 15, 1979. Both are still active.

What is this then?

The Daily Ping is the web's finest compendium of toilet information and Oreo™® research. Too much? Okay, okay, it's a daily opinion column written by two friends. Did we mention we've been doing this for over ten years? Tell me more!
