The latest word: in the US we’re watching about 5 hours of TV each day. Every day.
Come to think of it, I watch about 4 hours on a typical weeknight… but a good chunk of that has been spent on The Wire on DVD, to be honest with you. And that’s not every night. And I’m not sure if Nielsen includes falling asleep in front of the TV. If they do, then I’m golden.
The historical data is kind of neat too; household viewing has almost doubled since 1949. But even then – then! – it was still four-and-a-half-hours. I guess The Goldbergs was really, really good!
