I’ve recently become a fan of WNYC’s Soundcheck podcast, one of the very few music podcasts I listen to with any regularity. They manage to have some really diverse in-studio performances and as an interviewer, John Schaefer is top notch. It’s one of those shows that proves how important a good DJ/host can be in finding and sharing new music.
Some favorite recent episodes include Foday Musa Suso, Tony Trischka and Joel Harrison (a fusion of African folk, country, and jazz), Matisyahu (the well-known Hasidic reggae singer), and the Easy Star All-Stars.
