I can’t imagine that transitioning from one gender to another is easy. But I want to give a very-behind-the-times accolade to Ina Fried for at least one decision that looks easy from the outside: her name. Before her transition, she was Ian Fried.
So you swap two letters, and you’re done. No needing to get new monogrammed towels! Think of all the hassle she saved!
