The Library

I’m a fan of libraries.

Last week, in my town, our library branch re-opened after a massive remodeling. It’s now the largest in the county and has over 140,000 books, CDs, and DVDs. The children’s section is enormous, there’s a “teen center”, and computers everywhere you look. There’s no coffee shop, but otherwise, it’s a very nice, modern, fun place to be.

What really struck me, though, was how many people came to the grand opening. We got there within a few minutes of the official opening and there was a long line just to get into the library. Once inside, the place was mobbed. People were grabbing books off of the shelves like it was Supermarket Sweep. There was a 15 minute wait just to check books out. It was nice to see — a community that’s still excited about a local library and all it has to offer. There was a sense of excitement in the air, which is not a feeling usually associated with a public library.

I stopped in yesterday to pick up a book I had on hold and was amazed to see that the DVD racks were almost completely picked clean. It wasn’t the madhouse it was a week earlier, but it was still quite busy. Good stuff.

I have a Badger 1 Insinkerator. There was a jam in it and I have unistalled it to repair the jam. I had found glass in it. Well I got the blades to move freely. I have re-installed it under the sink no problem. WHen I plug it back in, even though my wall switch is off, the disposal continously runs and won’t shut off unless I uplug it. Any suggestions are desparately appreciated. Thanks, Kevin
