As a follow-up to my Ping about Pepsi Throwback and Kosher Coke, I’m pleased to report that I’ve now tried two of Pepsi’s new sugary-sweet concoctions: Natural and Throwback.
Pepsi Natural is Pepsi’s attempt to sell $10 soda at Whole Foods. Natural sugar, natural kola nut extract, and natural everything. It’s natural! But how does it taste? Well, it’s pretty good – but it doesn’t taste like Pepsi. It has a bit of a citrusy/cola flavor to it. It tastes very sweet but it’s a less sticky sweet than HFCS-based sodas. All in all, I give it a 8/10.
Pepsi Throwback is Pepsi Natural in non-natural form. Basically, it’s sugar water with caffeine and “natural” flavor. That’s it. I like it okay, and the flavor is definitely that of Old School Pepsi, but it just doesn’t last as it should. It’s like Pepsi Instant, really. I surely wouldn’t mind if this replaced regular, stupid Pepsi but since I’m a Coke man I give this a 6/10.
