Let’s say you’re about to embark on a 1,000 mile road trip. You’ve got snacks. You’ve got drinks. You’ve got a stack of records about 5 inches high. You’re set, right? No!
What about podcasts?
I’m thrilled that we live in a time where there is a boatload of free podcasts available that, in turn, rack up thousands of hours of programming. (Nay, millions!) And based on a recommendation from Pinger Liz I decided to try out a podcast called The Sound of Young America. And you know what? It’s great!
It’s an interview show hosted by Jesse Thorn, and the interviewees are folks near and dear to my elitist liberal web 2.0 heart: John Hodgman, Ben Folds, Kids in the Hall, Jonathan Coulton, Ze Frank… the hits just keep on comin’. And the interviews aren’t dry and boring stuff either.
In other words, I highly recommend it. If the Ping had a podcast that involved interviewing moderately or very famous people, it might sound like this.

I think The Ping should do a podcast and interview boring people that nobody has ever heard of. A Podcast for the rest of us…

Do you ever listen to NPR’s Terry Gross? Her programs are available in PodCasts, too.
