For years and years cereals have been chastised for being too similar to candy. Too sweet. Too junky. Too “bad” for you. I’m pleased to report that Trader Joe’s has decided to simply play off of those expectations with its new Chocolate Decadence cereal which includes actual candy in its mix.
It’s about time someone finally just had the gumption to blow away that separation of cereal and candy. I know that Lucky Charms has been dangerously close for decades – and Reese’s Puffs pushed it ever so closer – but to actually put candy in the thing takes guts.
So I salute you, Trader Joe’s. I look forward to having candy in all of my meals!
