Clearly the big news yesterday was that TiVo teamed up with Domino’s Pizza to allow orders from one’s remote. I have to admit, part of me is thrilled I’m not paying $13/month for this type of questionable development.
Is it cool? I guess. But it also drove the point home that TiVo isn’t a DVR anymore; rather, it’s a limited-function computer for your TV. I know it’s always been that, but “TiVo” and “DVR” have been so intertwined in my head that I really couldn’t have seen it any other way. Until now.
Eventually I’m guessing TiVo will be a large smorgasbord of crap one can purchase while watching TV; the DVR functionality will be a nice bonus. TiVo still hast the best interface out of the DVRs I’ve used, but I’m not sure how relevant that is when it seems that its primary goal is to sell stuff.

Last night after watching “How I Met Your Mother” via Tivo I had 3 options – delete, save, order a pizza from Domino’s. I chose delete.

You’re kidding Chris, right? They didn’t really add that as a menu option, right?

Not kidding at all. I could have ordered a pizza with the Tivo remote.
