Martin Hampton

There’s a filmmaker you may not have heard about, but now you will:

Martin Hampton.

The UK-based director puts together touching, wonderfully constructed short documentaries that make both the normal and abnormal seem endlessly interesting. Here are a few to get you started:

  • Last of the Conductors is a short piece about a bus conductor in London during the final few weeks before he’s made redundant by technology. The last shot of the movie hits you like a slap in the face.
  • The Collector and Possessed both focus on obsessive hoarders. Incredibly sad.

I haven’t watched his other five films yet, but I’m looking forward to doing so.

What is this then?

The Daily Ping is the web's finest compendium of toilet information and Oreo™® research. Too much? Okay, okay, it's a daily opinion column written by two friends. Did we mention we've been doing this for over ten years? Tell me more!
