I’m not a huge mark for the Olympics, but I do enjoy watching some gymnastics, swimming, and track and field events. And I’m always on the lookout for the obscure sport that no one realizes is an Olympic event. But there’s one that just bores me to tears and I have very little patience for:
The gymnastic floor exercises.
I think what it boils down to is that I like my sporting events without music, focused more on technical skill rather than any sort of creativity. I don’t want to hear about why a 16-year-old gymnast picked some lame song to do her routine to and while I appreciate the skill involved in the event, I’d much rather watch the atheletes on the pommel horse or uneven bars.
Perhaps I’m just cranky, but give me the skill and leave anything resembling dancing at home. I don’t like the musical luge in the winter for the same reason.

Team Handball.
That’s all I have to say.
Forget swimming. Forget gymnastics. Team Handball.
You’re welcome.
