I’d like to propose that the Monkees’ wackiest song was “Your Auntie Grizelda.” Have a listen.
Whereas a song like “Randy Scouse Git” also has a bit of that Micky-vaudeville thing happening, there’s not a lot of substance behind this one outside of the still-nifty-sounding fuzz guitar. And “Daddy’s Song” gets a free pass for being in Head, one of the most underrated strange films ever.
