When it comes to shipping from online stores I have to admit I don’t expect much. Zappos and Endless and ShoeBuy will be super fast, Amazon will be acceptable, and other places are a crapshoot. I’m happy to report that at least on a furniture item, Target.com delivered. (Hah!)
We ordered a new headboard last Monday and the expected delivery time was 2-6 weeks… painful, but all right given the price. Thursday afternoon I noticed the UPS truck pull up the drive when I was working at home. Was it my eBay order? No – but it was the headboard.
That’s pretty darned fast!
I’m not expecting everything from Target.com to get shipped that quickly but they certainly won on this one. Good job, folks!

I think they ship most of their furniture for free, so you may not have encountered this problem, but for items that don’t get free shipping, their shipping rates SUCK! Now, I love Target, but I must be spoiled by so many other companies offering free shipping. There are certain instances where I will pay for shipping without much chagrin, but I recently contemplated an order from Target for a $14.99 item that weighed about a pound and wasn’t oversized by any means. They wanted something like $8.60 for shipping. I couldn’t justify it. If Target doesn’t have something in the store, I probably won’t buy it, because the shipping is so cost prohibitive.
Incidentally, I received that item, ordered from Target.com, as a gift later, and it arrived broken. Needless to say, I’m not too thrilled with Target.com. Still love the store, though.

Oh yes, the non-free shipping rates are terrible. We priced out another piece of furniture and shipping was $80. That’s pretty darned high.
