There have been references to it on the Ping before, but I realized that we haven’t ever talked about Family Guy. I’m mostly interested in what the Pingers’ Consensus™® is on the show.
I admit I watched it perhaps once before last Christmas, when the influence of my brother- and sister-in-law kind of took over. They’re huge fans of the show, you see, and have good taste so I thought, “I’ll try it!” Since then I’ve watched a good deal more and do find it amusing – there are some classic Zucker-Abrahams-Zucker sight gags happening, which I appreciate.
But oddly, I find the show doesn’t stay with me past the initial viewing. It’s not memorable to me thus far. Again, there are moments, but that seems to be it. (Is it better than about 90% of TV? Absolutely!)
So what say you?

It’s a great show when the plot revolves around Stewie. Otherwise, meh.

I hated, hated, HATED this show during the first two seasons… thought it felt like a forced Simpsons. But, after it came back on the air, it felt like it got a lot sharper (perhaps just my perception?). I enjoy it in small doses, though Quagmire’s character is a bit annoying (and not in a good way).

Wow, I must admit I’m a little shocked there isn’t more love for the Family Guy. It has even less plot than the Simpsons, features tons of cutaways that have nothing to do with anything … but it’s freakin’ hilarious.
When I think of the funniest shows on TV I think of Family Guy first, Robot Chicken second.
I have the opposite reaction to Family Guy as you, in that I laugh about the gags for several days. Sometimes I actually watch the show on TiVo and then don’t delete it so that I can watch it again later in the week if I have a free few minutes.
By the way, I actually think Quagmire is one of the funnier side characters. Off the top of my head, I’d say Quagmire then Herbert (the creepy old man up the block).

Consider me extremely late to the Family Guy bandwagon. I agree with Ryan, it always felt extremely forced. (South Park hit the nail on the head with their parody, which always had them starting sentenced with “You think that’s bad? Do you remember when I….”)
I’ve been on Hulu a lot recently, watching clips and the few eps they have, and I’ve gotta admit, for the most part (season 1 and most of 2 not withstanding), i’m liking what I’m seeing.
