While I was a big fan of Lego (who isn’t?), when I was a kid there was a second “put it together” universe I started enjoying: Majokit.
The scale was bigger, overall, than Lego and as you can see on that site the pieces aren’t nearly as flexible. But putting streets together with wacky European traffic signage? Now you’re talking! Unfortunately, that was the extent of my enjoyment. This old commercial makes it look more fun than it really was.
You know, I probably have a few Majokit sets at my mom’s house. Time to dig ’em up and construct some streets, I say.

What I love about those old commercials for kids toys is the look on the kids’ faces… this look of amazement like their toy just birthed the Baby Jesus right in front of their very eyes.
Also, I can honestly say I’ve never heard of the Majokit. Then again, I was probably the only kid ever to not really get into Legos.
