As we all know Just the Ten of Us was the most revolutionary show of its era, one that defined the way a family sitcom should be – particularly one involving ten characters. But I’ve got to admit that I’ve blocked the series finale out of my mind altogether. Wikipedia reminded me why:
“The show ran for 3 seasons, and the final episode was conceivably the worst of the show’s run, with the Graham bringing home a cow that he plans to slaughter, but the girls plot to put an end to that by getting the cow pregnant. In the end, they decide to keep the cow and its offspring.”
Blah. Pregnant cow? Hm… maybe they started an organic dairy.
Anyway, let’s revisit history here. If you could finish the show, how would you do it? For me the obvious choice would be for the Lubbock Girls to land a major record deal, Coach Lubbock to move on to college sports, and everyone else to win the lottery. Perfect!

I think the show could have ended better if it had two or three more seasons, where they could have explored such themes as aliens, George Bush, pregnancy scares, drugs and many more Growing Pains references.

A fun way to end the series would’ve been to reveal the fact that Coach Lubbock has been sterile for years and that he’s not the father of any of the kids. A tearful meeting with the various fathers would ensue, complete with brownies.
