Fish in a barrel, I know. But in contrast to talking about one of the best local news sites, I’d like to present Chicago’s NBC5 site as a really awful one.
There are thirty links in the left-hand navigation… and a lot of those are flyout menus! And in the main ol’ news area… geez, where do I look? There’s so much going on, so many links, so many graphics, and there’s no real hierarchy here. “Here’s a bunch of links and stuff – good luck!”
While CBS2’s site is a little more cluttered than it used to be, it’s still a huge improvement over NBC5.
Why do people use local news sites anyway?
