Yesterday was Purchasing Day, as we all know, and I have to admit I was at a Target yesterday. But it was amazing: the place was empty, there was plenty of stuff, and no one was fighting with me over those new method holiday scented products. We did our shopping at about 7:30 at night. That’s right! Not during the day at all.
It worked out beautifully. No door busters. No packs of ravenous consumers. None of that. Just… shopping.
In addition I’d like to point out that there was a 7-mile traffic jam near an outlet mall in the far western Chicago suburbs… at 2am. That’s absolutely crazy.

I remember when I was doing traffic reporting. No commuter traffic, but 4:30am, the ramps getting off the Interstate to the malls were jammed, and there were tons of accidents reported in parking lots, as people were fighting for parking spaces.
Back to the topic at hand, I totally agree with Paul. I went shopping last night at around 8:30p, and guess what? It was halfway civilized. Parked in the front spots, got what I needed quickly, and checked out with relative ease. Oh, and I also got a full nights sleep, had a late breakfast, and had a relaxing day before I ever got to the store.
What a concept.
