Done with Holiday Shopping?

I understand the importance of the holiday shopping season this year. If we, as good consumers, don’t spend enough money… uh oh, economic problems.

I rarely watch the local news anymore but last week there was a story about this importance. It also threw out an interesting stat: 10% of holiday shoppers surveyed (not sure where yet) claimed they were already done with their shopping.

And it’s November 18th.

I don’t know about you but I haven’t even started my shopping yet. I’ll likely start looking around online this week for stocking stuffers and small gifts but that’s it. I’m just not sure if the people who are done already are crazy about the holidays, love giving gifts, or are just exceedingly well-organized. In any case I wish they’d stop making people like me look bad.

We used to be done by T-day every year. I’ve seen a few Amazon boxes in the mail, so I assume my wife has started. I haven’t even thought about it yet.

I have three birthdays to buy for in December so I do try to pick things up throughout the year so I am not overwhelmed in December.

Working in retail makes me NOT want to shop! Yes, it’s true. There is however a Restoration Hardware outlet coming to my town, so I think the people I know will be enjoying some nifty finds from there!

My fiancee and I agreed not to shop for each other this year, as we’re saving up for the wedding/living space we’ll need to spend money on next year.

That should buy me a week or two extra before I actually need to shop for her present. Yeah, like I’m REALLY gonna show up on Christmas day with nothing for anyone. That’ll go over well.

What is this then?
