L.L.Bean is planning to open an outdoor amusement park. Oh, sorry, “theme park style adventure center.” The goal? To get more people to buy khakis and polos, I think, and make Maine a tourist destination.
While I must admit that part of me is intrigued by this idea, it’s a lot more fun to come up with ideas for rides at this them… er, adventure center. And I know they say it won’t have things like log flumes but, come on, you envisioned some sort of clothing-themed ride, didn’t you?
The obvious one I went for is the Khaki Slide, although the Swift River Jeans Slide sounds pretty good as well. Who wouldn’t want to slide down a giant pair of khakis?

Either one of those slides would hurt if you hit the zipper.

I bet the rides will be full of advertisements

I thought Maine did not like tourists.

This place will be great for the one month that is a Maine summer.

They could one heck of a zip line with a huge zipper though.

I took my kids to the Worlds Largest Sporting Goods Store when we did a major road trip from Dallas to Duluth. It was worth every minute. We (being city folk) hadn’t seen life size plastic targets looking like javelina, and deer. We hadn’t seen taxidermied grizzly b’ars. They are REALLY tall when they’re standing up! I’m sort of surprised the LL Bean and Maine would allow this to go up in Freeport rather than Kittery. If it were just in Kittery, people could turn right around and go home… and not be sucked in to the beauty of the Acadian terrain or many harbor towns.
