The IM Hierarchy of Hilarity

Over a period of several months, Paul and I took many, many hours to develop what we think is the perfect “Hierarchy of Hilarity” for use on IM. For instance, laughing politely with a “heh” is much different from a gut-busting “LOLFR.” We found we had to create a few new terms, so please see the footnotes for explanations of the new additions.

heh < SnOL(1) < ALOL(2) < LOL < LOLFR < LOLROFLMAO

(1) Snickering Out Loud
(2) Almost Laughing Out Loud

It still amazes me that someone rolling around on the floor in paroxyms of laughter can manage to type cryptic acronyms all in uppercase letters.
