Collecting

I have a vague recollection of writing about this topic before, but can’t seem to find it anywhere. So, I’ll just come right out and ask it:

What do you collect?

I collect some of the standard stuff like records, movies by certain directors, stuff like that. But I also collection yixing teapots, autographs of famous and semi-famous people I’ve met or know, and pieces of lint from my navel (catalogged using Lint Collectr 2.0) currently for sale on teh eBay).

What do you collect?

What do you collect?

So tell me, what do you collect?

I collect bunnies (not real ones, because well, they’d be an ever-grwoing collection, and I also collect Harlequin (not to be confused with harlequins) Pottery made by Homer Laughlin around the time of the original Fiestaware.

I collect a fair amount of dust and hard water build-up as well.

Ooooh, JK! You know all that dust sells for quite a lot on eBay these days. 😉

I seem to collect books, if the thousands of them are any indicator. And state quarters. Used to collect those AOL floppies, but it just wasn’t cool enough to continue.

The most esoteric the better, I think, so that each find is an event and not much space is needed. That said, I collect Monkey Business Card holders that sit on my desk. I found the first one many years ago and everyone that came into my office commented on it. It was an impulse buy at Bombay.

I have since found 2 more in antique/gift shops. I currently have my eye on one that is brass and laying down holding a tray in front. I found it online, but actually ordering one vs. stumbling upon it in a store seems somehow pathetic.

I collect vintage scales and kitchen equipment. In fact, I’ve got so much of the latter we made a 6′ long, 3′ wide, 3′ deep wood and glass display case to hold the stuff.

Since most of the equipment is either nickel or chrome, we added the small Christmas lights to allow the metal to ‘sparkle.’
