Three Things You Didn’t Know About Me

In a completely ego-centric Ping (the best kind!) I give you two things you didn’t know about me:

1. My thumbs are double jointed. I used to gross my teachers out by popping them in and out of position. It’s not as gross as my friend in elementary school who could turn his feet completely around because of some odd double-jointedness in his ankles.

2. We brush our dogs teeth each night. And she loves it.

3. (Some people will know this one.) In high school, I was hit over the head with a wooden chair during a riot at a club. I know, it explains a lot.

You know what this means, right? That now you have to share.

1. I was raised in a ‘left-handed family.’ Both my parents (and subsequently wife and one kid) were left handers. I do many things ‘backwards’ according to some.

2. I dropped my daughter on her head taking her off my shoulders onto a concrete floor in Scotland when she was about six months old. I thought I had killed her… until she opened her mouth and screamed bloody murder. That was the first time I ever felt relief about a crying baby.

3. I actually liked working odd hours in hot kitchens. The hotter the better. I think I just liked it because I could tolerate the heat better than others and I loved hearing them moan and groan.

Okay, nothing as exciting as yours.

Ciao,
PS my brother-in-law brushes his cat’s teeth nightly.

1. I accidentally hit my brother on the head with a baseball bat.
2. I accidentally hit my friend’s brother on the head with a golf club.
3. When I lived in Germany, I was bitten and kicked by a horse.

1. I would love to have lived in the 1950s and worn a cute apron in a pink-themed kitchen. I heart kitschy stuff. This is still 1.

2. My license says my eyes are brown but they are really green. I have tried unsuccessfully to change this.

3. I dressed as Pat Benatar for Halloween when I was in high school.

1. I fell off of a 100-foot cliff while hiking in PA, and only suffered a scratch. 10 feet from the bottom, I somehow grabbed onto a tree, slowing me down enough not to kill me, and somehow landing on my feet. It’s a miracle I didn’t even break my legs, let alone die.

2. While driving home from Roanoke, VA to Lynchburg, VA, my car skidded on the wet roadway, and rolled over 4 times. Fortunately, it was 3am, no one was around, and the car somehow landed right side up. Seat belts rock. I drove home.

3. During my 3 year run as a mobile traffic reporter in Wilmington, I drove over half a million miles in rush hour traffic.

The last fact may be boring, but I was trying really hard not to add a third near death experience. Now, off to imagine jk as Pat Benatar. 😉

Dave — that first one sounds absolutely terrifying. I’ve always had a fear of that happening to me, and thus avoid the edges of high trails or cliffs, even if there’s a barrier.

Wow Dave, someone must be watching out for you then.

What is this then?
