Tree Down?

A couple of years ago Ryan mentioned tree recycling to take care of Christmas trees at the ends of their lives. Of course if you’re using a patriotic tree it’s possible your tree is already down. But now I’m curious: are you still rockin’ around the Christmas tree, if you had one up?

I will admit that today is Tree Take Down Day here, but it’s pretty late in the season.

Oh no, my tree is still up. I blocked out the entire month of retail hell December. At this moment, I am eating dinner next to my lit tree.

We had ours up early this year — first weekend in December — but also kept it up pretty late. We kept it up until last Thursday since the in-laws were in town and we celebrated a late Christmas with them.

I always notice in the week or so after the decorations come down and people stop turning on their outside lights that I really kind of miss them. I like being out at night taking the dog for a walk and seeing Christmas decorations. Even the obnoxious ones.

We took our tree down on the 30th or 31st of Dec. It’s probably already been recycled into mulch by now.

What is this then?
