What was the first CD you ever bought?
For me, it was the timeless pop of Roxette’s Joyride. Okay, so it’s not timeless. And it’s not even that good. But give me a break, I was a kid.
I had just received my first stereo (ever – the first time I had a radio, too) for my 8th grade graduation and it included a newfangled CD player. A few days after getting it my parents and I took a trip to Venture to get some goodies, and my first opportunity to get a CD presented itself. After a lot of deliberation I chose Roxette, and of course it came in the longbox… what a waste.
The last CD I bought, by comparison, was The New Pornographers’ Mass Romantic. Funny that it’s still pop, but I think it’s way way better than Roxette.

First: Def Leppard’s Hysteria. Having worn through three cassette tapes of it (the tape seemed exceptionally weak), I could not stand the thought of coughing up another $10, so went for the CD. This was years before I had a player, but I did have friends with players who would dub tapes for me…
Last: the Noir OST #1. Not necessarily the best decision. I do adore three of the songs, but being a rare foreign import, that was about $12 per song.

I got a CD player for Christmas my freshman year of college – 1985, along with a gift certificate for the record store in the mall. IIRC, I bought Dark Side of the Moon and Ozzy Osbourne Tribute.
I still have that Dark Side CD.

The first CD I ever bought was License to Ill by the Beastie Boys. The last CD I bought was Golden State by Bush back in 2001 or 2002.

Forgot the last CD part of the question. That would be Buffalo Nickel by Dan Baird. I bought it used on Ebay this week.

oo, Paul, I looove your last cd!
my first was c+c music factory… I don’t recall the title. Or was it a MC Hammer cd? It’s hard to remember! The last cd I bought was to make cds for my spinning classes–“techno dance party volume 2.”

Thanks Monica – I’ve really taken a liking to the New Pornographers and have worked backwards through their catalog. Good stuff.

My first CD was I Just Can’t Stop It from the English Beat and this remains one of my all-time favorites.
The last CD I aquired (a friend burned it for me) was Strength by the Alarm.

First CD: Paula Abdul’s “Forever Your Girl”. Believe it or not, she WAS hot before tons of plastic surgery…and Emilio Estevez.
Last CD: Just bought one on my last trip in Walt Disney World. Filled with Disney music from the rides/attractions/parades/etc. That was probably the first CD I’ve bought in…3-4 years now. Usually, if I buy a CD, it’s because it’s something that I can’t find online whatsoever. Specialty stuff like sound effects, background music, instrumentals..etc.
