One of my favorite artists is Glen Phillips. I’ve liked his music since the days of Toad the Wet Sprocket (remember them?) and his solo stuff has been great, if not played on the radio. (But when, what good music is anymore?)
I was on the internets yesterday using the Google, and a stone’s throw from Glen’s main site was… Glen’s blog! Almost a Year Abroad tells the story of what it’s like to tour for a year with your nuclear family. That’s right: he took the wife and kids. Amongst his entries that stood out for me was one mentioning a home concert in Amsterdam. How nifty is that? Here’s this singer touring Europe and he plays in your living room.
Not only that, but he’s got a flickr account as well! And he brings the funny!
Glen, when you get back to the States, give me a call. I’ll host a concert in my living room, okay?

Home concerts are fairly common on the folk circuit. If you can guarantee him 50-100 people willing to pay maybe $30 each, he almost certainly would show up in your living room. It’d be like Spicoli blowing his reward money hiring Van Halen to play his birthday party, only different.
