The Daily Ping

There were rumors of a Ping book, but those were started on the internet.

Papa’s Got a Brand New Bag

Sorry. The title’s really obvious, but I had to roll with it.

A month ago I wrote to ask about what bag you use for work. Paul mentioned eBags, which led me to their site, where I wasted a lot of time researching types of bags and picking out one that I might like to have to replace my rapidly-growing-raggedy freebee mentioned on that Ping. I added it to my wishlist and earlier this weekend, I received it (thanks, Mom!).

I chose this bag in a color that seems to no longer be available (the black/orange combo seen in the pop-up photos. It’s only my first day of ownership, but man oh man, I love this bag.

It’s not super-complicated, but it’s comfortable, functional, and has a three-year warranty on it that will likely be very important since I tend to beat up my bags. It’s got a nice padded storage area with a divider, which leaves room for a laptop, something I only carry occasionally. There’s a key attachment (I’m totally blanking on what those little belt-hook thingies are called), and plenty of both zippered and unzippered compartments. Zippered are nice for holding notepads, things for work, etc. while the unzippered ones are convenient for temporary storage of my wallet or MP3 player. The cell phone storage is on the side of the bag rather than the shoulder strap, which I like and there are exactly three spots for writing utensils: one for a pencil, one for a pen, and one for a Sharpie for those “please sign this!” celebrity sighting moments.

Yay for good bags!

Very nice. Now you’re all “urban”.

I bought a great bag years ago from, of all places, GAP. It was only $10. The dog chewed the plastic click buckles, though, so it’s not as nice as it used to be. They never showed up again. I was wondering if I can have those click buckles replaced. I haven’t found anywhere that sells them alone.

The LL Bean bag I bought in 1994ish is still in great shape. Of course, it wasn’t designed with laptops in mind…

What is this then?
