Remember me the way I was

One of the nice results of the Internets’ overwhelming popularity is that it’s easy to get back in touch with people you haven’t talked with in a long time. In this case, though, I’m not talking about old high school friends, but kids that I babysat.

I realized this morning, while reading an e-mail from one of three sisters that I babysat for several summers during high school, that I was picturing her as old as she was the last time I saw her, 13 or so. But she’s well out of college now and married. It’s weird to picture little 13-year-old Paula when reading her telling you about her getting hitched.

Also, I still picture Paul at the same age he was when I saw him in Portland two months ago.

I sort of know what you mean. I used to mentor at a middle school when I lived in Virginia. One day I got to thinking of the first class I had dealt with. Any one of them would have been graduated from college had they chosen to go that route.

Odd… I don’t get older, but everybody *else* does. 😉

I babysat for a boy named Howard who is now a doctor. I don’t think I had any impact on his career choice!

What is this then?

The Daily Ping is the web's finest compendium of toilet information and Oreo™® research. Too much? Okay, okay, it's a daily opinion column written by two friends. Did we mention we've been doing this for over ten years? Tell me more!
