Here in Chicago fall pretty much started near the beginning of September. We’ve had a few warm days since then – yesterday in particular – but things have cooled off fairly significantly and “jacket weather” is coming later this week.
Yesterday, I was talking with someone who definitely wasn’t interested in fall weather. “This is awful,” she said, “It’s too soon for fall! Fall weather should be here around late October, or early November.” Of course this is Chicago, so by then we might have a patch of snow on the ground.
I stood my ground and defended this nice autumnal air. But it caught me off-guard; most Chicagoans are happy to get some relief. I definitely think fall’s timing is good this year, and I’m very much looking forward to sleeping under multiple blankets with the windows open as the cool, cool air blows indoors.

where was that person from, Florida? This weather seems more like “normal” to me than all the falls (or lack of one–last year seemed to skip it) in the last 10 or so years.
Aaaaahhhh.
