It’s funny: when I heard of the movie You, Me, and Dupree my first thought was of Steely Dan’s song, “Cousin Dupree”. Apparently I wasn’t the only one, for Steely Dan is now requesting an apology (or maybe worse) from the filmmakers.
They’re claiming that the entire plot of the movie was lifted from the song. For your comparison: the lyrics for the song and the movie’s synopsis.
I think more than anything, it’s just a nice way for Steely Dan to get back in the spotlight. But let’s be honest: “Dupree” sure isn’t a common name.
