Our dog’s nose has started to show some light colored streaks over the last couple of weeks and we were wondering what the heck it could be. We were mildly concerned there was some sort of deficiency going on or something, but it turns out that the phenomenon is completely normal. And it’s called “snow nose.”
Apparently, it happens in many dogs during the winter time (hence the name, I suppose) and the nose returns to normal as the weather gets warmer. In older dogs the nose may stay that lightly streaked color. Either way, though, it’s not a sign of any disease or any problem (though there may be some problems if it isn’t snow nose, but there would also be some other symptoms).
So there you go.
