Survival

Popular Mechanics has a great list about how to surivive many “worst case scenerios”, which include surviving a riot (hey, I’ve done that!), surviving a fall through ice, and even foiling an alien abduction. But the one that was most interesting to me, and the one I’ve thought about on my own the most, is how to survive a fall in a plummeting elevator.

Interestingly, even if a cable elevator were to fall, you’d likely survive the impact because of air pressure and car buffers at the bottom. But, just in case, you should know that jumping right before it hits the bottom won’t work (how do you know when you’re about to hit the bottom? Huh, sucka?). The better choice is to lie flat in the center of the car to spread the impact out to different body parts.

And, oh yeah, scream like a little baby, too.
