Surely you remember “They’re Coming To Take Me Away,” the wonderfully strange Napoleon XIV song that was all over the airwaves in the 1980s (though it was recorded in 1966). And surely you’ve been thinking, “My oh my, it would have been nice if that song went through something similar to the Roxanne phenomenon of 1985.
Turns out, it did. And thanks to WFMU, you can now download Napoleon Complex, a compilation of 21 different versions and answer tracks of “They’re Coming To Take Me Away.”
Included in the batch is the backwards-playing B-side of the original single and a German version. Very nice.
