The Daily Ping

Somehow, Ryan has written over 1 million Pings; Paul, just 60.

Opps!

If there’s one word people spell incorrectly that surprises me the most, it’s “oops.” The very fact that one can take a logically spelled word and mess it up amazes me. I mean, if you’re spelling “Oooooooo,” you use a bunch of o’s. So how could “oops” be spelled any other way?

Yet, I’ve seen multiple people misspell “oops” as “opps.” And to me, it’s just so painfully obvious… I mean, one is “oops” and the other sounds like “special ops.” Even worse: one of the people that consistently spelled it wrong was one of my high school English teachers. I pointed it out to her every time she spelled it wrong… so often, in fact, that she alluded to it when she signed my yearbook. Crazy.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I need to go take a popp.

It’s been a year since this classic Ping, and I think we ought to stop by and thank it for existing.

Just saw it misspelled AGAIN. I just don’t get it.

WOW. It never ceases to amaze me. I have seen this done so many times and it is frustrating to no end. Another spelling gaffe that got to me was when my ex-girlfriend would misspell “motivated” as “modavated”. Part of me thought it was kinda cute though so I never corrected her.

What is this then?

The Daily Ping is the web's finest compendium of toilet information and Oreo™® research. Too much? Okay, okay, it's a daily opinion column written by two friends. Did we mention we've been doing this for over ten years? Tell me more!
