Programmable Thermostats

One of the simplest, but most useful, things that we’ve installed in our house is a programmable thermostat. It’s one of those purchases that pays for itself after a little use, particuarly if you’re prone to forget to adjust your thermostat before you leave the house or go to bed.

Ours allows you to program four time zones for three sets of time for both the cooling and heating settings. So we have settings for when we get up in the morning, when we leave for work, when we return from work, and when we go to bed. Monday-Friday has one set of temperatures programmed, Saturday and Sunday another, and then a “special day” setting which we use when we go on vacation.

For $30 we were able to get a pretty flexible thermostat and its installation was simple; even a home improvement super-amateur like me was able to do it without frying myself.

What is this then?

The Daily Ping is the web's finest compendium of toilet information and Oreo™® research. Too much? Okay, okay, it's a daily opinion column written by two friends. Did we mention we've been doing this for over ten years? Tell me more!
