Touristy Stuff

When you live in a big city, you almost always run into tourists or friends who ask, “What do I need to see or do?” When Ryan and his wife came in for my wedding, I compiled a super long list of attractions and restaurants. I’m sure I noted a few touristy spots on there, too.

The thing is, there’s always one or two places where tourists go but locals rarely do. For Chicago, I suspect that’s Navy Pier. It’s not that there’s anything really wrong with Navy Pier – the view is quite good, and the Ferris Wheel is a delight – but there’s so much more to do. It just seems a waste to do that and not venture into the neighborhoods or suburbs.

If you live in a city, what touristy place do you advise people to stay away from (unless they’re in a touristy mood?)
