Obsessive Planner or Spontaneous Traveller?

Are you the type of person that prefers to have six months to plan out a trip, do all sorts of crazy research about your destination, obsessively check airline prices, and generally get psyched about the trip? Or do you prefer a last minute trip that catches you by surprise and forces you to work quickly to find travel deals and fly by the seat of your pants once you get there?

I’m definitely more of an obsessive travel planner than a spontaneous traveller. While I don’t like to plan my days down to the minute, I do like to find out every possible thing there is to do and decide what things I’d like to spend my time doing while I’m there. And I love the time leading up to a trip where I’m getting progressively more excited about travelling.

I bring this up because I have a trip coming up in a couple weeks that is of the first type, one that I’ve been planning for months now. At the same time, I have a possible trip in a month that would entail a trip overseas to a destination I know nothing about, so I may be forced to become a spontaneous traveller for the first time in my life.
